Evening Advocate
Hours:
Full-Time, 2:00PM – 10:00 PM
(Part-Time hours available.)
Responsibilities Include:
- Ensuring shelter safety and security.
- Supporting and interacting with clients.
- Maintaining accurate records.
- Assisting with client transportation.
- Completing daily and weekly shelter tasks.
Qualifications:
- Must be the age of majority at the time of hire (18+).
- Must be able to work independently, as well as having the ability to work within a team of advocates.
- Must be able to observe and assess human behavior fairly and accurately.
- Have an interest in working with domestic violence and sexual assault clients.
- Have the ability to work with families in crisis from various social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds, and to provide services to clients in a sensitive and empathetic manner.
- Must be able to strictly adhere to and enforce policies and procedures governing confidentiality.
- Must maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license and current vehicle liability insurance and registration.
- Drug/Alcohol testing and background checks are required.
- DWI convictions must not have occurred in the past seven (7) years.
- Applicants with a history of felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude or domestic violence will not be hired.
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and any combination of education and training with the target population or two (2) years’ experience in a human service-related field.
Training:
Mandatory training specific to the field will be provided. Must participate in a minimum of twenty (20) hours of training annually.
